Reporting

Parents receive a report on their children’s performance at the end of each term.  This serves many purposes in the educational cycle of the child here at St Pius.

The pupil:

Children receive feedback every day, engaging in correction with their teachers, and pinpointing areas where they experience challenges.  Term end reports serve as a cumulative source to outline their performance.

The parent:

Reports form an integral link between the home and school, enabling parents to see how well their children are performing.  They can then also help to devise possible methods of support to improve or sustain their child’s performance.

The school:

It’s important to us that our pupils know that their parents and the school are interested in their education and performance.  This partnership also assists in correcting behaviour and conduct, serving as a source of pupil motivation.

We believe the key purpose of assessment is to move our children on in their learning.  Our reporting strategy gives a clear picture of how well each child is doing across the curriculum.  This takes place formally at parent/staff meetings, and via both grades and written reports.  We also have a highly regarded open-door policy relating to more informal discussion.
