Welcome to St Pius X Catholic Preparatory School
Preparatory School of the Year 2018-2019
St Pius X Catholic Preparatory School is an outstanding Independent Catholic preparatory school for children aged 2-11 years, in Preston, with an excellent reputation for academic achievement.
We are a family, where everyone is welcomed, respected and cared for. We aim to instil in each child a positive attitude toward learning and a desire to face a challenge with enjoyment. We will nurture an attitude of respect towards all people and celebrate the uniqueness of the individual.
We are very proud of all our pupils, and every year we are particularly proud of their successes as they leave our school at Year 6. In 2018 11 of our pupils who sat the exams for Grammar Schools, were successful in gaining entry. Two were offered scholarships to local Independent Schools. 100% of our Year 6 children successfully gained places in the Independent School of their choice.
Our 2016 SATs results show that 93% of our children achieved the national pass rate or above; compared to the national average of 57%.
We hope that you will get a taste of our warm, friendly and family environment by browsing our website. Please do not hesitate to contact school direct for more information or for an informal visit.
St Pius X Preparatory School was founded in 1955 by a group of Catholic Preston businessmen, to provide the best in private education. It is owned by CPS (Preston) Ltd, and is a non-profit making charitable trust, administered by a board of governors.
It is a co-educational Catholic Preparatory school welcoming children of all religions, between the ages of 2 to 11. The head is a member of the Incorporated Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS) and is recognised by the Department of Education and Employment.
“When pupils leave the school they are extremely well-rounded individuals with a strong understanding of their responsibilities to others and the impact of their actions. Pupils are emotionally mature for their age, including those with special needs.” (ISI Inspection 2016)
The Infant trip to Legoland Discovery Centre was Legotastic! The children took part in lots of STEM activities and opportunities to use ICT to design and create their own models. There were mathematical challenges for staff and pupils to experience their creations and we even had time to have a disco dance.
The children in Year 6 have been learning about the Ancient Maya in their History lessons. Today they focussed on Maya foods. They made Ancient Maya hot chocolate and it was delicious! Why not give it a try for yourself.
Today our amazing Reception and Year 1 children took part in a Mini Mudder and our Year 2 to Year 6 children walked 5 miles to raise awareness of autism. They all had an amazing time, we’re sure they will all sleep well tonight. Well Done Everyone. Check out our Reception & Year 1 […]
